Goat Pictures

I'm finishing up the proposal for the city. In going through my pictures to find what would supplement the proposal well, I came across this picture and had to share.

We loved that baby goat for all 21 days. Isn't she cute?

Our Goat Story

In the early part of 2009 we acquired a female goat named Ms.
Billy, with the understanding that the ordinance of Tooele City would allow her
to be on our ½ acre property because she would be far enough away from the
road.
In June 2009 we received a Courtesy Notice informing us that
we were in violation of the City Ordinance because we are not zoned for farm
animals. Ms. Billy had given birth to twins the day before and my children had
already named them Billy the Kid and Annie Oakley.
Despite the suggestions of many to keep the goat hidden in
our ½ acre back yard, I searched and found a home for the goats, in
Grantsville, where zoning would allow them. My children are still heart-broken
over this incident, but I could not choose to teach them that it was alright to
disobey the law.
I wrote a letter to Tooele City in January 2010, requesting
that the ordinance be reconsidered. This request was denied in May 2010.
Discouraged I set the project aside, as I have many times since.
But every time I walk away from the project, somebody brings
me back to it. People in Tooele are interested in this issue. So the battle
continues. But we need people who are willing to jump in and work to help
change the ordinance in Tooele City to allow goats.
